Matt.24:12-14,
Matthew 24:12-14,
And because there will be more and more lawlessness, most people’s love will grow cold.
But the person who endures to the end will be saved.
“This Good News about the kingdom will be spread throughout the world as a testimony to all nations. Then the end will come.
Disciples question Jesus about signs…His coming, when He will establish His Kingdom…they sense its near!
Vs. 4 - Jesus lets them know some things must take place b4 His return…beginning of birthing pains.
Temperature drop in LOVE (Cold World)
Iniquity - wickedness / Abound - over & over, overflow, exceeds the ordinary.
Vs. 12 - Lawlessness will abound (not being constrained by the law; breaking the rules on purpose; complete disregard for moral(righteous) & civil(secular) laws(rules & regulations)
…will wax cold (lose interest) lack of care or concern…
(means you once had Agape)…what or who hindered you?
In the book of Revelation chpt 2, in John’s letter to the Church at Ephesus, Jesus said He had somewhat against them because they had left their 1st love.
(Repent)… when we put away right living & compromise God’s ways…we’re growing cold.
***Modern society, Man is getting worse
You can become numb or affected when you stay too long in the cold.
~Iniquity is worse than the Pandemic (RONA)…bringing out the Church true colors (Loss of Love)~
Outside demand (Coercion, stress, intimidation, influence) from the World is putting pressure on the Church.
Gal.6:9,
And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.
Effects of the heart becomes psychological (mental), because we’re becoming weary.
1 John 3:11,
For this is the message that ye heard from the beginning, that we should love one another.
You say you love God, but hate your brother (LIAR) I John 4:20
Agape - comes through our relationship w/God…can’t do it w/o the Holy Ghost.
This increase of wickedness in this world, is draining the fire out of God’s ppl…affecting the heart…causing our love for the things of God & love towards each other to grow cold.
(Cause & Effect)
We get relaxed & sin carelessly…repent only when it’s convenient…taking God’s grace for granted!
***won’t forgive, gossip about 1 another, judgmental, quick to throw 1 another under the bus…just easily offended…(we’re growing cold Church).
We’re living in some critical times…closer than ever to Christ’s return.
Our love for one another will decrease or fade, because our love for God is growing cold.
Matt.24:13,
But the person who endures to the end will be saved.
Vs. 12 shows what happens to people without Faith, but Vs. 13 shows what happens to people with Faith.
When our love begins to decline, God puts emphasis on our patience, endurance...
1 Cor.13:4-7,
Love never gives up. Love cares more for others than for self. Love doesn’t want what it doesn’t have. Love doesn’t strut, Doesn’t have a swelled head,
Doesn’t force itself on others, Isn’t always “me first,” Doesn’t fly off the handle, Doesn’t keep score of the sins of others,
Doesn’t revel when others grovel, Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth,
Puts up with anything, Trusts God always, Always looks for the best, Never looks back, But keeps going to the end.
Vs. 14 - the end or destruction of the Temple... not the world!
the division amongst the Jews & Gentiles was being broken down.
Bona fide testimony (spreading the Gospel to the nations(ppl who haven’t been reached ).
